Keeping Maine’s Waterfront Working
Maine Farmed Seafood Coalition
About us
We are a coalition of organizations working to tell the true story about farmed seafood and aquaculture in Maine and to combat the misinformation that’s hurting fishing communities and working waterfronts in the state.
We are committed to supporting sustainable aquaculture and local food production that benefits people and communities while also protecting Maine’s coastal fishing tradition and water quality.
Maine is at a critical point, with the future of working waterfronts and our ability to produce local, sustainable and great tasting seafood.
Wild-caught fish alone can’t meet the US demands for seafood. Our country imports 85% of the seafood we eat and about half is farmed.
Local food is better – better for jobs, better for the environment and better for the table.
